Easy s’mores dip with graham crackers

Now I know this isn’t my typical recipe shared on here. Usually I’m bringing some kind of home-inspired meal to the outdoors but this time it’s the other way around! This outdoor-inspired dessert is a super easy and fun dessert to make in your home with your friends and family!

This recipe was actually created for a virtual cooking-demo I did for TD Bank’s Employee Appreciation Week last week. Their theme for the week was “summer camp” and they wanted a camping-inspired recipe for indoor cooking, and I thought, “nothing says camping quite like s’mores does!”.

Ingredients

This recipe is so simple it doesn’t really need a recipe. Just think “what goes in a s’more” - and you’ve got everything you need!

The base ingredients for this recipe would be:

  • chocolate chips (or any meltable chocolate of your choice)

  • marshmallows

  • graham crackers

Extra fun additions could be:

  • mini peanut butter cups (this is what I used!), butterscotch chips, peanut butter, caramel sauce, etc.

  • other “dippers” in addition to graham crackers, like cookies, fresh fruit, pretzels, etc. (just think what you may use for chocolate fondue!).

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 350F.

  2. In a 9-inch cast iron pan (or other oven-safe pan), pour enough chocolate chips to cover the bottom, about 1 cup. Add in any additions you want in the dip, like peanut butter cups, caramel sauce, peanut butter, etc. Try to stick to things that can mix well or melt with chocolate. If you add too many crunchy items (e.g. crushed peanuts, pretzels, etc.), your chocolate sauce is going to be chunky and hard to scoop with your dippers.

  3. Place pan in oven for 3-5 minutes to start melting the chocolate (the chocolate does not need to be completely melted, just starting to soften). Remove from oven.

Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in the microwave and then pour into the cast iron pan.

  4. Cut marshmallows in half and place over chocolate in one even layer. You don’t have to cut the marshmallows in half, but in my opinion it makes it easier to get a nice balanced dip of chocolate and marshmallows. You can also use mini marshmallows.

  5. Bake in the oven for another 3-5 minutes until marshmallows are puffed up and golden brown on top. You may want to use the broil setting on your oven to cook marshmallows a little faster - either way works! If using the broil setting, make sure to watch those marshmallows carefully, they can go from white to burnt very quickly!

  6. Serve warm with dippers of your choice! I chose the classic graham crackers and then added some fresh strawberries and bananas.
